Momentum SoccerCreating a Safer, More Respectful Game for Everyone

At Momentum Soccer, we’re committed to protecting young players and maintaining an environment where everyone can participate safely. That commitment means following Safe Sport requirements for all players under 18, in full compliance with NMSSA and U.S. Soccer Federation policies.

Safe Sport isn’t just a checkbox—it’s a framework designed to prevent misconduct, abuse, and inappropriate behavior in youth athletics. If your team includes players under 18, those players must complete Safe Sport certification before stepping on the field. No exceptions.

Who Needs Safe Sport Certification?

If your team has any players under the age of 18, those players must complete Safe Sport training and submit their certificate before the season starts.

This is a federal mandate that applies across all amateur soccer organizations affiliated with U.S. Soccer. It’s not optional, and Momentum Soccer cannot allow underage players to participate without verified certification.

How to Complete Safe Sport Training

The process is straightforward, but it requires a few steps. Here’s how to get it done:

Step 1: Request Your Login Code

Contact NMSSA to receive your Safe Sport login credentials.

What Is Safe Sport?

Safe Sport is a federally mandated program created to protect athletes—especially minors—from abuse, misconduct, and inappropriate behavior by adults in sports settings.

All amateur soccer organizations affiliated with U.S. Soccer must comply with Policy 212-3, which establishes standards for athlete safety. This includes:

  • Training Requirements – Adults who have contact with minors must complete Safe Sport education
  • Mandatory Reporting – Suspected abuse or misconduct must be reported immediately
  • Background Screening – Coaches and officials working with minors undergo background checks
  • Misconduct Prohibitions – Clear policies against bullying, harassment, emotional or physical misconduct, sexual misconduct, and any inappropriate contact with minors

The goal is simple: make sure young athletes are protected, respected, and able to enjoy the game without fear.

Why This Matters

Youth sports should be a place where kids develop skills, build confidence, and learn teamwork. Safe Sport helps ensure that the adults involved—coaches, referees, league organizers—are educated about boundaries, warning signs, and their responsibility to create a safe environment.

For Momentum Soccer, compliance isn’t just about meeting a requirement. It’s about upholding the values we expect from everyone who participates in our league.
